Formation

Like all great things, the beginning is small.
Just before dawn, the yesterday’s heat has bled,
Out through the thin blanket that covers us all.
Creatures get out of their bed, eager to be fed,

Or be fed on.

On tippy toes, the sun peaks with sleepy eye
The rays like the arm of a small child,
Reaching on a table just a little too high,
And the peace of night starts to tip to wild.

The day is awake.

Each molecule of air hit by photon streams,
And like a distant melody whose volume grows,
The air begin to dance, looks up and dreams,
Uncaring to the last of darkness’ woes.

The sun is here.

Increasing angle and with warming ground,
Air ascends ever higher in the waning morn,
Pressure drops, air expands, saturation found,
To protect us from burning orb, the Cloud is born.

Thank you Hariod! Lol I’m glad I don’t need to buy one of those pesky word of the day calendars, I’ll just count on your comments! You are quite the wordsmith yourself. I actually have taken a peak around your blog, but have yet to give it the time it deserves before commenting!

You can blame this poem on Esme as well. As you may have seen, I hyper linked her very first blog post at the end of this poem. Lol

      1. Apologies for the caliginous and atiloquent bloviation, Swarn. The bit to keep was “nice work”.

There’s a ‘word of the day’ calendar, is there? I once thought it would be nice if there were a loo roll stamped with an interesting word for each sheet. [I said ‘sheet’.] Perhaps I ought patent the idea?

Yes, I had noticed the dedication to Esme; she is a muse to many of us earthbound Cloud gazers. Like you, I stand beneath her looking up in awe at what I see.

        1. “she is a muse to many of us earthbound Cloud gazers. Like you, I stand beneath her looking up in awe at what I see.” – You got the cheque then.

I’m kidding, thank you Hariod, I enjoy your works as much and like as not more than you mine I’m sure. *beams broadly* x

        2. I’d be afraid that there would be certain words, that I couldn’t bring myself to wipe against my backside. lol

And don’t worry, I do know the meanings to most of them, but more importantly am impressed by excellent wordcraft, so don’t hold back. 🙂

            1. I refuse to delete anybody’s comments unless extremely abusive. All that is written will be saved in case damning evidence is needed for court proceedings in the future. 🙂

  1. “And like a distant melody whose volume grows,

    1. Thank you, for that initial post of your in my mind inspired in me the beginnings of a cloud, but no ordinary cloud, one that is alive and causes us to cast our gaze upwards instead of downwards which we must do most of our day. So if I’ve captured some essence of your lovely beginning, then I am most pleased. 🙂
